The Public Entity Risk Institute (PERI) is an independent thought leader and definitive resource for risk management, serving public entities, small businesses and small nonprofit organizations. Its mission is to improve its constituents’ sustainability by enabling them to identify and address their risks and vulnerabilities. PERI provides guidance through relevant and high quality publications, information, training, resources, and consulting services.

PERI’s objectives are to:

• Raise our constituents’ awareness and understanding that managing their organizations’ risk on an enterprise-wide basis is a critical component of success;
• Provide practical, affordable, and easily accessible enterprise risk management education and training resources to help PERI constituents effectively manage risk on an enterprise-wide and community-wide basis;
• Serve as a resource center and information clearinghouse

PERI provides synergy among existing programs and organizations and serves as a catalyst in the risk management field and a vehicle for allocating greater resources to key needs in risk management.

PERI was established in 1997 as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit, non-membership organization.
